  1. Genevieve says:

Disgusting… The focus should be on shark finning…. not the rarity of attacks on humans… Seriously, which is the bigger problem???

  2. H E Sawyer says:

Genevieve – I’ve seen this. It’s a really good programme – it’s balanced, considers all possible theories as to why this happened, (because this was an unprecedented sequence of attacks in Egypt), and as I dive the Red Sea along with thousands of other UK & EU divers, we have a vested interest in making sure we have some understanding as to why this occurred. We also are interested in the Egyptian authorities counter measures.

In this programme both the scientists and the victims have a voice.

The focus should be on trying to minimize attacks, which will increase if we’re not educated about them. If you want to change the negative image of sharks within the general public – who don’t care about them – then it’s very important that shark science gets a voice on mainstream television.
